Event to help get kids off streets of Kenya

First Christian Church is collaborating with Liberty Baptist Church and Holy Family Parish to bring the Vallejo community “Building Bridges to Nairobi,” a dinner and fashion show in our Fellowship Hall on Saturday, February 26th. We will be supporting the Nairobi Street-Children Project, which is a mission program of Holy Family. They sold items at the Global Holiday Faire back in December, and many of you probably saw their table with outstanding clothing, jewelry and other accessories. The idea for this event grew out of talks the volunteers had that day at the faire; they picked February to hold this special evening in honor of Black History Month.

Holy Family will provide servers for the dinner and models for the fashion show; they will be modeling the clothing available for purchase. Also, members of Holy Family who have visited Kenya will help to educate us of the plight they have seen firsthand of the children trying to get off the streets of Nairobi . Volunteers from Liberty Baptist are providing the home-cooked dinner that night, which promises not to disappoint! First Christian Church - in addition to hosting the event - will be responsible for set up and clean up. We will definitely need some help, so let Helen Mezzera know if you would like to participate.

On the 26th, the doors will open at 5:00 p.m. at which time people can peruse the tables of goods for sale before dinner is served at 5:30. Door prizes will be awarded. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance - and there are a limited number available, so if you are interested in coming, buy them now! Tickets can be purchased from Helen.
